Changes

New features

Calculated attributes in lists, filters and dashboards

The result of a calculated attribute can now be used throughout PIM in the same way as the value of any other attribute.

  • Calculated attributes can be added as columns in the product list and in mass edit, where they show the result for the market and language selected on the page. In mass edit the result is read-only, and a product whose formula cannot be evaluated shows an empty cell.
  • Calculated attributes can be used in product filters, and therefore in saved filters, dashboard widgets and trends, and to select products for a bulk operation. The available operators follow the expected result type: text operators for String, numeric operators for Decimal, and "Is true" and "Is false" for Boolean. "Is blank" matches products whose formula cannot be evaluated.
  • When an attribute or field that a formula refers to is renamed, the formula is updated to the new system name shortly afterwards. When a referenced attribute is deleted, the reference stays in the formula, which fails with "Attribute X not found" until an attribute with that system name exists again.
  • The AttributeMasterDataUpdated webhook payload now includes varyingDimensions in the attribute configuration. It holds the segmentation dimensions that the result of a calculated attribute varies by.
  • The "Override rule" option is no longer shown for calculated attributes, as their formula is always defined in PIM. The API rejects any override behaviour other than ValueWithFallbackToExternallyOwnedValue for a calculated attribute.
  • A formula that calls a function that does not exist is now refused when the attribute is saved, with the message Unknown function X. Function names are not case-sensitive.
  • A formula refers to a field by its system name, as in @DIMENSIONS.WIDTH, and ISEMPTY replaces the ISNULL and ISBLANK functions. The formula reference describes the full syntax.
  • On a variant that inherits a calculated attribute from its master, the attribute's menu no longer offers "Set value", as a calculated attribute has no value of its own on a product.

Enhancements

  • Rich text fields now look and behave like the other text fields in PIM. The label sits on the border of the field, and the outline uses the same styles on hover, on focus and when the field is disabled.
