When should I use the different types of downstream clients?

Answer: It depends on the type of application, the client is for. In cases where an application has to authorize automatically in system-to-system operations, a machine client should be used. In cases where a user needs to authorize through a trusted application, an interactive application should be used. In cases where a user needs to authorize through an untrusted application, a clientside application should be used.
