Searchable fields
What is Searchable fields?
Before a field can be utilized in searches, it must be designated as a "searchable field" for the relevant segment. This ensures that the search tool recognizes and considers the information within that field when processing search queries.
Partial matching
Optionally, searchable fields can be configured to allow for partial matching. This means that even if a user types only a part of the information, such as a keyword in a longer product description or title, the search tool can still generate relevant results. This is particularly useful for enhancing the search experience with more flexible and forgiving matching criteria.
Full matching
When a searchable field is configured for full matching, it means that the search tool requires users to enter the complete and exact information for a successful search. In contrast to partial matching, where typing only a part of the information generates relevant results, full matching necessitates precision, ensuring that the entered query precisely matches the stored data in the designated field.
Let's say you have a specific product identification number (Product ID) associated with each item in your online store. If you configure the Product ID field for full matching, users would need to enter the complete and exact Product ID to find a specific item. This approach ensures a precise match, reducing the likelihood of displaying irrelevant results.
