Product filters
Product filters are a cornerstone of efficient product enrichment workflows in Bizzkit PIM. They help users narrow down product selections based on specific criteria and are widely used in both daily searches and for structuring dashboards.
Filters can be either personal or shared, and they can be saved and later modified. This allows for e.g. updating a filter used in multiple widgets and for users to easily share the same view of data between different people and departments.
- Improved collaboration: Filters can be shared across teams, enabling consistent use of criteria and reducing duplication.
- Streamlined maintenance: Editing a filter automatically updates all dashboard widgets using it, saving time and reducing errors.
- Cleaner workspaces: No more clutter from duplicate filters. Users can refine existing filters instead of creating new ones.
- Greater Control: Filter ownership and visibility are clearly defined, supporting governance in shared environments.
Saving filters
Users can save product filters for easier management between different filter configurations. Saved product filters can also be used as a dataset for dashboard widgets.
- Users can save filter configurations from the product catalogue.
- Saved filters can be reused in dashboards as datasets.
Editing filters
Filters can be edited from:
- The product catalogue page
- A dashboard widget using the filter
Users can choose to:
- Update filter: Overwrites the existing filter and updates all linked widgets.
- Save as copy: Creates a new filter based on the current configuration.
Sharing filters
Users can share their personal filters with others by setting the Shared option in either the save dialog or the header section. Shared filters can then be loaded on the product list page or used as datasets in widgets by other users.
Migration strategy for existing filters
- Existing filters on dashboards will be migrated to the personal space of the dashboard owner.
- Filter names will be auto-generated using the format:
Dashboard name + Widget name + Dataset label + Number.
Limitations
While the feature introduces major improvements, some constraints remain:
Ownership restrictions
- A shared filter can only be updated or deleted by its owner.
- Other users may load it in the product list page, and create a copy based on its data by clicking
Save as new. - A shared filter that is being used by a widget cannot be set as
personalby its owner.
Impact on widgets
- If a shared filter is deleted, any widgets that rely on it will become unusable until the dataset is updated to use a different filter.
Segment-specific filtering
Basic filters always filter within the currently selected segmentation or default value. If you want your shared filter to show results for a specific segment, create an Advanced filter instead.
Access via shared dashboards
Personal filters that are used as a dataset in a widget that is in a shared dashboard are accessible to the users that were given access to that dashboard.
